One Source, Start to Finish
From the first design review to the final coat, Midwest Metal Products handles every step of precision metal fabrication under one roof. Our single-source approach means tighter quality control, faster turnaround, and one accountable partner instead of a chain of vendors. For over 60 years, customers in aerospace, medical, and electrical industries have trusted us to deliver exacting parts on time, every order, every time.
Engineering & Design
Collaborate directly with our engineering team through a fully integrated computer system that interfaces with yours. We help optimize your design for manufacturability and choose the most efficient methods and materials before a single part is produced.
Cutting & Forming
Turn raw material into precise components with high-speed EML turret/lasers and a full line of three-axis CNC press brakes. From ultra-clean laser-cut edges to complex formed geometries, we deliver tight tolerances at any production volume.
Welding & Assembly
Bring your project together with full-service steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding, plus hardware insertion and complete assembly. Our NADCAP-certified welding and automated insertion machines ensure every joint and fastener meets spec.
Finishing & Coating
Protect and complete your parts with in-house chromate conversion and chem film, painting, powder coating, and silk-screening. Our finishing services produce consistent, corrosion-resistant results built to withstand demanding environments.
FAQs
Where is Midwest Metal located?
Midwest Metal Products is located at 800 66th Ave SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a central Midwest location that makes shipping convenient nationwide.
How long has Midwest Metal been in business?
We’ve been providing precision metal fabrication since 1964—over 60 years of quality products and exceptional customer service.
What certifications does Midwest Metal have?
Midwest Metal Products holds AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 certification, the quality management standard required for aerospace manufacturing. We are also NADCAP certified for both chemical processing and welding, and we maintain documented supplier requirements (QSP 79). These certifications mean your parts are produced under audited, repeatable quality systems suitable for aerospace, medical, and other highly regulated industries. We were also named 2025 Collins Aerospace Mechanical Supplier of the Year.
How does Midwest Metal ensure quality and precision?
Quality starts at the beginning, not the end. We program dimensions directly into our CNC equipment and monitor every job with SPC-trained employees. Our inspection technology includes FabriVISION laser scanning, a Brown & Sharpe CMM accurate to 0.005″, and a FaroArm mobile inspection station that verifies formed dimensions to 0.002″.
Can Midwest Metal handle both low and high production volumes?
Yes. Our equipment, including HDS press brakes with quick set-ups, is built to handle any production volume—from prototypes and small runs to ongoing high-volume manufacturing.
Are products from Midwest Metal corrosion and chemical resistant?
Yes. For equipment exposed to water, chemicals, or extreme environments, we operate our own in-house chromate conversion and chem film line to provide some of the most corrosion-resistant coatings available. Keeping this process under our roof gives us tighter quality control and faster turnaround than outsourcing. Our chemical processing is also NADCAP certified, the aerospace industry’s benchmark for specialized process accreditation.
Does Midwest Metal have design and engineering services?
Yes. Our fully integrated computer system interfaces directly with your engineering team for seamless, accurate collaboration. You’ll have the flexibility to choose the most efficient methods and materials for producing parts to your exact specifications, and our engineering team can help optimize your design for manufacturability before production begins.
