The Kaizen Approach
Enter the Kaizen event. This structured methodology uses a short time frame—usually between 2-10 days—to speed up change and improve internal processes. Kaizen focuses on continuous improvement, eliminating waste, and boosting productivity.
Participants begin by defining the problem and documenting the situation. After a Kaizen event, everyone has a short-term action plan as well as longer-range schedules and operating standards.
According to Lean Manufacturing Tools, a well-planned and well-executed Kaizen event can generate between 20-100 percent improvements in quality and efficiency.
For these reasons, Midwest Metal Products uses the Kaizen approach in all our work. Most recently, we used a Kaizen event to earn our AS9100 certification.
